Lubbock native and world-renowned songwriter and entertainer Mac Davis will be laid to rest Monday at a private ceremony. His family says it will be, as he requested, in Lubbock, Texas, in his jeans.
Longtime friend and head of Caldwell Entertainment Don Caldwell said fans are invited to line up in cars along Canyon Lake Drive, around Lake 6, on Monday. He says hopefully vehicles will fill Canyon Lake Drive around the lake, east from MLK Blvd. to the Lubbock Cemetery gate.
Fans are asked to be lined up along the drive by 12:15 p.m. Monday.

Nashville, TN October 02, 2020 – Legendary singer/songwriter Mac Davis will be laid to rest Monday October 5th during a private family ceremony in Lubbock, TX. The artist died Tuesday September 29th in Nashville, TN from complications associated with heart surgery. He was 78 years old.
The burial will be closed to the public. The burial is scheduled for Monday October 5th at 1:00 pm CT.
According to his family, as promised in his hit song “Texas In My Rear View Mirror,” Davis will be buried in “Lubbock, Texas in my jeans.”
The Mac Davis family is beyond appreciative to everyone for the outpouring of love and well wishes they have received. For those asking, in lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that donations be sent to MusiCares.
