Weather: A warmer afternoon with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s for our area. South-southwest increases to 20-28mph, plus dry air is leaving our area with critical wildfire risks. Avoid anything that may lead to a fire. Cold front early Tuesday drops highs to the 60s next few days.
Tomorrow, Lubbock congressman Jodey Arrington will lead a house delegation to explore a portion of the southern border
The visit will take a dozen representatives to McAllen, Laredo and Carrizo Springs. The delegation will meet with law enforcement, landowners, small business owners and health care providers. In addition, it will go with the border patrol and DEA to visit the wall, the maritime boundary, the Port of Laredo and the Carrizo Springs "Influx care facility." Congressman Arrington invited Vice President Harris to join them. He says there's no better way for the new "border czar" to grasp the situation than to go to ground zero.
Police are still searching for multiple suspects involved with a string of car burglaries that left one woman with gunshot wounds last week
Three shots were fired in a back alley way Thursday night in a South Lubbock neighborhood near 76th and Iola. LPD confirms this incident is related to the shooting of 47-year-old Stephanie Miller, found 10 minutes away. She told police she followed five suspects after witnessing a car burglary in her neighborhood. She's expected to recover. Police warn if you witness a crime to call 9-1-1 and avoid confrontation.
All adults in Texas are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting today
And the City of Lubbock is hosting more vaccine clinics this week at the civic center. The first clinic is tomorrow from 10 - 4. The next one is Wednesday, same time. And the last clinic is Thursday, 2 - 8. Registration opens this morning at 10. You can make an appointment by online or by phone. Through the health department, more than 55,000 people have received their first doses and more than 36,500 have gotten their second doses.
The Plainview-Hale County Health Department is also hosting two vaccine clinics this week at the Ollie Liner Center
The first clinic is tomorrow from 10 - 3. The second one is Thursday from 2 - 7. Appointments open this morning at 10. To make an appointment, visit the appointment portal on the city's website or call the health department.
United Supermarkets will hold another vaccine clinic in Snyder this week
It'll be on Wednesday at the Western Texas College Coliseum. It will be from 2 pm - 6 pm and anyone over the age of 18 qualifies for a shot. To get an appointment, you can either visit the United family scheduling system online or call.
The Biden administration is working on a system for people to prove they've been vaccinated against coronavirus
The so called "vax pass" or vaccine passport could be used by individuals in the workplace, in school or traveling internationally.
