LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech volleyball team participated in its first practice of the 2015 season on Monday afternoon, at United Supermarkets Arena.

The Red Raiders reported to campus Sunday night, where they had a team meeting and team meal before today's practice to officially start the season.

"It's Christmas in August," Texas Tech head coach Don Flora said. "They did some hard work in the offseason, and now we get to see how that pays off in the gym. Our non-conference schedule is going to go up in difficulty, so the work starts now. These girls are excited to get started. We have some great, experienced veterans mixed in with some hungry and talented freshman. It's going to be a fun few weeks of preparation."

The Red Raiders return 10 letterwinners and four starters, including senior captain Jenna Allen and preseason All-Big 12 selection Lauren Douglass, both of which earned All-Big 12 honors in 2014.

Tech also brings in six newcomers, which combine for five All-State honors, 10 All-District selections and three state titles. Four of the six athletes were named to the 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association Under Armour All-American Watch List.

The Red Raiders come off a 2014 season which included a 13-0 start, the fourth best in school history.

Texas Tech will start the 2015 campaign at the United Supermarkets Arena, with the Texas Tech Fall Invitational. The Red Raiders will face Utah State and Louisiana-Lafayette on Aug. 28, before taking on Houston on Aug. 29.
